We share a commitment to building equity in access to the ocean, amplifying the voices of surfers of color, and taking care of the earth.  By becoming a Brown Girl Surf volunteer, you are becoming a crucial part of our community and our movement.

 BGS has volunteer positions for folks who want to:

• find and deepen their ocean community with like-minded folks

• improve their surf skills and ocean comfortability

• share their ocean knowledge with and learn from our community

• engage in our equity and advocacy work to continue increasing inclusion, diversity, and joy in the surf community

What volunteers can expect from us:

• a safe, inclusive, and joyous space that welcomes folks from ALL backgrounds and ALL surf expereinces

• a container for healing and growth both in and out of the water

• resources to expand surfing knowledge and experience including gear, additional instruction, and connection to other community surf organizations

• the invitation to bring your induvidual style, practices, wisdom, and interests into program creation and delivery

We invite volunteers who:

• can commit to upholding a safe and inclusive space for our community members, participants, their families, and beyond

• are willing to learn and use trauma-informed practices to deliver Brown Girl Surf values and mind-body-ocean curriculum

• recognize the power and privlege that their identities may hold and a willingness to center and uplift our female-identified & gender expansive surfers of color
